About The Artist
My name is PEARL
Born and raised in the heart of the DMV, PEARL grew up surrounded by music, faith, and powerful voices. As the eldest daughter of gospel vocalist Betty Marie Preston -- PEARL -- whose voice rang out weekly on national radio broadcasts from, Bibleway Temple Worldwide -- there was no choice but to sing. By the age of five, PEARL was already harmonizing, planting the seeds of a lifelong passions for music and storytelling through song.
Her early years in school choirs showcased her natural gift for leading with soul, while her training with Toastmasters International refined her stage presence and mastery as an emcee. These influences fused into the unique artistry of PEARL: a vocalist who blends dramatic spoken word with rich, expressive vocals to move audiences of every kind.
Inspired by iconic vocalists like Nancy Wilson, Patti LaBelle, and the incomparable Whitney Houston, PEARL has had the honor of performing at weddings, corporate events, political fundraisers, and non-profit gatherings throughout the DMV area. She considers it a profound honor to have been invited to celebrate love, uplift communities, and even pay final tribute at memorials for family, friends, and dignitaries alike.
Now retired from a successful 20+ year career in real estate and entrepreneurship, PEARL has returned full circle to her first love -- music. Whether delivering a jazz standard, a heartfelt love song, or a gospel-infused ballad, she brings warmth, authenticity, and timeless soul to every performance. None of this would be possible, without the full support of her husband, "Partner for Life", Elijah.
